The Graveyard Shift! #25

...a pretty spooky experience considering the ghostly activity in the house.  This went on for weeks until a lot of the larger items had been sold. To alleviate the stress of all these problems we continued to frequent the local pub, the Meynell Arms.  There was always a good atmosphere here, unlike at home, and the landlord at that time was quite a character.  His idea of fun was to tell everyone there was free beer that night and when we all clamoured to the bar he would throw all the slops over us!  Eventually people got the idea not to wear their good clothes when going for a night out in the Meynell!  Another one of his tricks was to turn the clock back...

Last year we were back again to make the video for the tour of the house to accompany my blogs.  Again, it was lovely to be there and spend two whole days having a good look around the house that held so many memories, good and bad, for me.  This time the grounds had had a lot of time spent on them and they were back to how they must have looked in the Victorian days when the Meynell family first lived there.  Whilst filming the rooms it really made me appreciate what a beautiful house this was to live in and how fortunate we were to have such an...

In 2018 we were back again to make the video for the tour of the house to accompany my blogs. Again, it was lovely to be there and spend two whole days having a good look around the house that held so many memories, good and bad, for me; however, the guests were still hearing noises in the attic and seeing a little girl running around the house. They had also seen the ghost of a man in the Entrance Hall (the same one I had seen many years before) so the house was obviously still haunted! The grounds had had a lot of time spent on them and they were b...

...  The spooky basement corridor   As everyone had heard about the ghost stories at the Hall, occasionally at these parties we would make an ouiji board and try and contact the spirits. Most people had had a few spirits of a different kind by then and we would all sit round the table watching the glass move around the board wondering who was pushing it. Afterwards no-one admitted that they did and then we’d all be wondering and worrying! Once, while playing this game, a curtain fell down from the window and freaked us all out! One or two people were really into all this stuff and so the dark arts arrived at the Hall – as if we didn’t have enough gho...
